Counseling Service
School Counseling: We’re Here to Help!
What Is School Counseling?
School counseling is a service designed to help you with things that might be making you feel stressed, sad, worried, or confused. It’s a safe space where you can talk about anything that is on your mind—whether it's school-related or personal.
Our school counselor is here to support you with:
- Feeling better when you’re upset
- Dealing with stress, anxiety, or sadness
- Improving relationships with friends
- Setting goals and making plans for the future
- Handling challenges at home or school
- Building self-confidence
What Happens During a Counseling Session?
- Confidentiality: Anything you share with the counselor stays private. The counselor will only talk to someone else if there is a serious concern about your safety or the safety of others.
- Talking and Listening: The counselor is there to listen without judgment and help you work through your feelings. You can talk about whatever is on your mind, and the counselor will offer support, advice, and ways to feel better.
How Can I See the Counselor?
- Self-Referral: You can complete the self referral forms which are located in and post in the box in reception or pass to a teacher or member of staff you trust to give to the counsellor. You can also find the form online by scanning the QR code on the posters or going through the school website pastoral hub where you will find the self-referral form. The online form is confidential and will be sent only to the counsellors.
- Teacher Referral: If your teacher notices you’re struggling, they may suggest seeing the counsellor and can complete a referral form on your behalf.
- Parent Referral: Sometimes, your parents or guardians may suggest seeing the counselor if they notice you're going through something difficult.
What Happens After I See the Counselor?
- Ongoing Support: Counselling service offers 6 sessions per referral. Once you complete the 6 sessions you can always refer again for further support.
- Getting Help: The counselor might suggest helpful strategies or activities you can do to feel better.
- Getting Advice: The counselor might also recommend talking to other people or getting extra help if needed, but only if you agree.
